Mallorca

If Eat, Pray, Love had a sequel it would start in Mallorca. The Balearic Islands feel like the kind of place you go to have your soul reborn into a hippie surfer looking at life with a rose-colored lens and an obsession with the healing benefits of hallucinogenics and lemons. That attitude pretty much embodies the island (and Ibiza). I came for the good vibes, the beaches, and the Vespas, but what I loved most was the design. The doors and shutters mostly had that Mallorcan green tone and the siding was made of a diverse variety of organic textures. The ceramics…oh, the ceramics… and the linen… and the fruit stands and the interiors… It all had me in awe the entire time. So much that Mallorca is at the top of my list for my future summer holiday home location. The best part is that the design was effortless. It wasn't like South Beach trying to be “organic chic” or a Tulum Beach Club charging $200 for a linen lounger at a beach club just to feel like you're in nature. I could tell, the towns were like this a hundred years ago even without tourism. It genuinely felt like the birthplace of organic modernism, as if it was part of the culture. Between the rows of lemon trees and paella, I fell in love with Mallorca and its culture.
